Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Heath Miller has been out since last season when he had surgery late in the year to repair torn knee ligaments. Nine months later, Miller appears ready to take the field again.

Miller practiced this week and is listed as probable for Pittsburgh’s game Sunday night against the Chicago Bears.

His return can’t come sooner for the struggling Steelers. The team is 0-2 and is an as much of a must-win situation as you can have this early in the season. Much has been made of the Steelers’ inability to run the ball with projected starter, 2013 second-round pick, Le’veon Bell out of the lineup nursing his own injury. The passing game has been just as bad, though. Pittsburgh and Ben Roethlisberger have the aerial attack ranking near the bottom of the league (27th in the NFL), averaging fewer than 200 yards per game.

Miller alone won’t be the solution, but his presence will give Roethlisberger another option on offense and could get Pittsburgh going in the right direction.
