The catcher position isn’t a deep one but it is one that’s getting younger and evolving. Over the past couple of years, we’ve been introduced to the likes of Salvador Perez, Wilin Rosario, Evan Gattis, Yan Gomes, and plenty of others. This year, we get to find out what guys like Travis d’Arnaud and Mike Zunino have to offer fantasy owners.

While there aren’t many players who will produce in all five standard categories, there is value to be had if you’re willing to sacrifice some of the categories. Sacrifice batting average and find yourself a Matt Wieters-type that can provide you with a steady dose of homers and RBIs. Sacrifice power and see if Joe Mauer can’t give your lineup a big batting average and run boost.

As with every other position, we’ve weighted home runs a bit heavier than other categories, like batting average, simply because there are so few players able to provide 20+ home runs anymore. This is especially true at a position like catcher where most guys miss about 30 games to routine days off alone.

Be sure to check out our first base rankings and projections, second base rankings and projections, third base rankings and projections, and shortstop rankings and projections. Be sure to check back tomorrow for full catcher projections and next week for full outfield rankings and projections.

Now, let’s take a look at the fantasy baseball 2014 catcher rankings.
