MLB Power Rankings Week 17

Mike Trout, Angels

1. Oakland Athletics (61-37) (Last Week 1) – The All-Star Break layoff did nothing to slow down Oakland’s bats. In the A’s three-game series against Baltimore, they scored 19 runs.

2. Los Angeles Angels (59-38) (LW 2) – The Angels earned a comeback, walk-off win against Seattle on Sunday, improving their record to seven games above .500 against their division, which is the best in the American League.

3. St. Louis Cardinals (54-45) (LW 6) – If the Cardinals run into a problem down the stretch, it will likely have to do with their offense. Their 367 runs is ahead of only San Diego, and they also have just 62 homers, which only leads Kansas City.

4. Detroit Tigers (54-41) (LW 3) – The Tigers are looking at a big test later this week with seven games on the road, including four games against the Angels. But they are 12-games over .500 outside of Detroit this season, which is tops in the league.

5. Los Angeles Dodgers (55-45) (LW 4) – Adrian Gonzalez kept the Dodgers from being swept by the Cardinals by knocking home the game-winning run in the ninth inning on Sunday night. That increased his National League-leading road RBI total to 38.
