XN Sports will rank every NFL offense and defense leading up the regular season. We continue the series with the defenses in the NFC.

From the teams that’ll be tough to score points against week in and week out, to the ones that’ll allow opposing quarterbacks to post career-highs, here are the defense rankings for the NFC.

9. Carolina Panthers

The No. 2-ranked defense in the league a season ago, Carolina let many key pieces walk in free agency, and the only reason nobody is talking about it is because the offensive losses may loom even larger. Greg Hardy may be suspended to start the season, and the secondary is breaking in three new starters. In a division with the Falcons and Saints, the Panthers’ D will not be as dominant as it was in 2013.
