Daily Fantasy Hockey: DFS DraftKings Values – December 12

Zetterberg

The two teams that played last night that are also playing tonight are Calgary and Los Angeles. With the Flames going into Pittsburgh, the writing is kind of on the wall there. The biggest favorites tonight are Detroit and Pittsburgh, both (-200) via Covers Experts.

One word of caution today is that the Penguins do expect Patric Hornqvist and Kris Letang back in the lineup tonight. This morning, though, was just an optional skate. That means lineup combinations won’t be certain until pre-game warmups. That’s important because the usage of guys like Brandon Sutter, Blake Comeau, and Paul Martin could vary wildly.

As always, check Left Wing Lock for goalie confirmations.

Players will be in order of perceived value, by position, and there should be enough to mix-and-match for each type of game available on Draft Kings. Some positions might only have a few plays, some might have several. It all depends on the day, the matchups, and the price.

Remember: players are in order of value, not necessarily in cost. Just because Sidney Crosby is $8000 one day doesn’t mean he’s a better value than Andrew Shaw at $4000.

Cash Games

Center Wing Defense Goalie
Nugent-Hopkins (EDM) – $5300 Hornqvist (PIT) – $6700 Kronwall (DET) – $3900 Fleury (PIT) – $9300
Zetterberg (DET) – $6200 Nyquist (DET) – $4900 Martinez (LAK) – $4100 Howard (DET) – $8000
Malkin (PIT) – $9200 Gallagher (MTL) – $5100 Petry (EDM) – $3300
Galchenyuk (MTL) – $4400 Hall (EDM) – $7100 Ehrhoff (PIT) – $4600
Carter (LAK) – $4400 Jurco (DET) – $3200
Sheahan (DET) – $3800 Toffoli (LAK) – $4600
Comeau (PIT) – $3300

  • Without Corey Perry, the Ducks are missing a lot of punch (both in goals and fists). The Ducks are fairly overrated, so it could be a good night to pick an Oiler or two.
  • I have Zetterberg listed over Datsyuk because of cost, but Datsyuk may get the better in-game matchups. Either is fine, I’m just rolling Zetterberg personally.
  • The new top line in Montreal is deadly. Facing Los Angeles doesn’t scare me off of them.
  • Defence is a hole tonight. Thankfully, there are a couple of very good values.

Guaranteed Prize Pools/Tournaments

Center Wing Defense Goalie
Crosby (PIT) – $9000 Hornqvist (PIT) – $6700 Ehrhoff (PIT) – $4600 Scrivens (EDM) – $6900
Spaling (PIT) – $3100 Hall (EDM) – $7100 Petry (EDM) – $3300
Nugent-Hopkins (EDM) – $5300 Pitlick (EDM) – $2500 Kindl (DET) – $2500
Datsyuk (DET) – $7700 Tatar (DET) – $5400 Markov (MTL) – $4400
Helm (DET) – $4300 Pacioretty (MTL) – $8100
Galchenyuk (MTL) – $4400 Gallagher (MTL) – $5100

  • Again, those using Penguins players will need to be by a computer or mobile device about 30 minutes before the game to see what the combinations are.
  • Edmonton’s top line is extremely stackable because Tyler Pitlick is at minimum price. For those looking for a bit more skill, David Perron played on the power play with that duo last game.
  • If I’m stacking from Detroit, it’s the Datsyuk line, if only because they should get easier matchups.
  • The top line from Montreal looked very good in their first game together against Vancouver (and the Sedin line).

Slim’s Pickins (bargain plays)

Marc Arcobello (EDM-C, $2700) – Centering a third line of David Perron and Teddy Purcell. They should get easy matchups tonight.

Tanner Pearson (LAK-W, $2900) – Still on Los Angeles’ second line.

Jakub Kindl (DET-D, $2500) – Running the second power play unit as the lone defenceman.

Good luck!
