Daily Fantasy Hockey: DFS DraftKings Values – December 13

Jason Spezza

There were four teams who played last night that play again tonight: Anaheim, Detroit, Florida, and Pittsburgh. Two of those teams are missing stars today, too, as Anaheim will be without Corey Perry (and will be for the next few weeks) and Pittsburgh will go without Sidney Crosby. The Penguins captain is awaiting further test results for what looked like the mumps.

There are no real big favorites on the board tonight. The largest favorite (via Covers Experts) is the St. Louis Blues at (-155). No other team is above favored more than (-150). That makes things a bit tougher on which direction to go in net, so there aren’t many real “wrong” answers in goal tonight.

Play Daily Fantasy Hockey on DraftKings Tonight!

As always, check Left Wing Lock for goalie confirmations.

Players will be in order of perceived value, by position, and there should be enough to mix-and-match for each type of game available on Draft Kings. Some positions might only have a few plays, some might have several. It all depends on the day, the matchups, and the price.

Remember: players are in order of value, not necessarily in cost. Just because Sidney Crosby is $8000 one day doesn’t mean he’s a better value than Andrew Shaw at $4000.

Cash Games

Center Wing Defense Goalie
Spezza (DAL) – $5300 Benn (DAL) – $6500 Green (WSH) – $4400 Miller (VAN) – $7700
Granlund (MIN) – $3500 Atkinson (CBJ) – $5200 Campbell (FLA) – $3400 Kuemper (MIN) – $6200
Dubinsky (CBJ) – $4900 Vanek (MIN) – $4200 Daley (DAL) – $4000 Hutchinson (WPG) – $7600
Scheifele (WPG) – $4200 Hansen (VAN) – $3000 Spurgeon (MIN) – $4000
Oshie (STL) – $5100 Tarasenko (STL) – $6500
Tavares (NYI) – $6600 Kane (WPG) – $5300
Johansson (WAS) – $3800 Zucker (MIN) – $3800
Seguin (DAL) – $9300 Kucherov (TBL) – $4800
Zetterberg (DET) – $5500 Parise (MIN) – $8200

  • With Spezza back on the top line in Dallas, is a must-play tonight at his price.
  • Columbus suffered another injury (Hartnell), but the second line of Calvert-Dubinsky-Atkinson should have a good night tonight.
  • Minnesota has a plus-matchup against Arizona, and Granlund/Vanek are very cheap.
  • I like Tavares tonight if Jonathan Toews is out of the lineup for Chicago. If Toews is in (he did skate this morning), I would avoid Tavares.
  • Jannik Hansen has joined the top line in Vancouver, making him a very good value play.
  • As I said, goalie is tough tonight. I think Vancouver wins, though Miller might not have a great night. I don’t mind using Hutchinson for those looking to avoid using Miller.

Guaranteed Prize Pools/Tournaments

Center Wing Defense Goalie
Little (WPG) – $5300 Ladd (WPG) – $6100 Spurgeon (MIN) – $4000 Bobrovsky (CBJ) – $8600
Granlund (MIN) – $3500 Wheeler (WPG) – $6300 Bouwmeester (STL) – $3200 Montoya (FLA) – $6300
Spezza (DAL) – $5300 Vanek (MIN) – $4200 Trouba (WPG) – $5200
Seguin (DAL) – $9300 Parise (MIN) – $8200 Edler (VAN) – $4900
Oshie (STL) – $5100 Benn (DAL) – $6500 Daley (DAL) – $4000
Backes (STL) – $4900 Steen (STL) – $6100
Sedin (VAN) – $4100 Sedin (STL) – $5600
Hansen (STL) – $3000

  • Without Corey Perry, and on back to back nights, I like the spot tonight for Winnipeg’s top line a lot. In their last matchup, Ladd had two points, as did Trouba.
  • Dallas’s top line is pretty expensive, but are deadly when they’re put together.
  • Minnesota, as I mentioned earlier, has a very good matchup with Arizona tonight.
  • With so many even matchups, there are a lot of ways to go in net. I like Bobrovsky (think people will stay away from goalies facing Pittsburgh) and Montoya (Buffalo’s luck has to run out sometime) tonight.

Slim’s Pickins (bargain plays)

JT Miller (NYR-C, $2800) – It appears that Miller is staying on a line with Derek Stepan and Martin St. Louis for the moment.

Matt Calvert (CBJ-W, $2900) – Calvert is on a very good second line with Brandon Dubinsky and Cam Atkinson.

Jakub Kindl (DET-D, $2500) – Still running Detroit’s second power play unit.

Good luck!
