Daily Fantasy Hockey: DFS DraftKings Values – January 6

Zidlicky

The only team that played last night that is playing again tonight is San Jose. Without Joe Thornton, this team isn’t nearly as proficient at both ends of the ice, and that could be a good night for their opponent, the Minnesota Wild. Of course, Minnesota hasn’t been that great of late, either, so it may be more of a toss-up than at first glance.

The heavy favorites on the board tonight are Chicago, Nashville and New Jersey. I would caution against stacking heavily on the Predators tonight – Carolina has been good possession-wise over the last couple of months, and have allowed just 14 goals against over their last 9 games. I’m not saying Nashville loses this game, but I don’t think Nashville buries them either.

Play Daily Fantasy Hockey on DraftKings Tonight! This Sniper contest is a $2 entry, $8000 guaranteed prize pool, and the top 900 places pay out.

As always, check Left Wing Lock for goalie confirmations.

Players will be in order of perceived value, by position, and there should be enough to mix-and-match for each type of game available on Draft Kings. Some positions might only have a few plays, some might have several. It all depends on the day, the matchups, and the price.

Remember: players are in order of value, not necessarily in cost. Just because Sidney Crosby is $8000 one day doesn’t mean he’s a better value than Andrew Shaw at $4000.

Cash Games

Centre Wing Defense Goalie
Toews (CHI) – $5700 Benn (DAL) – $6700 Zidlicky (DAL) – $3500 Crawford (CHI) – $7700
Ribeiro (NSH) – $4200 Saad (CHI) – $4800 DeKeyser (DET) – $3000 Schneider (NJD) – $7400
Datsyuk (DET) – $5500 Hoffman (OTT) – $3300 Daley (DAL) – $4200 Rinne (NSH) – $8800
Schenn (PHI) – $4300 Tarasenko (STL) – $6100 Karlsson (OTT) – $6200
Zajac (NJD) – $3500 Forsberg (NSH) – $5800 Suter (MIN) – $4500
Sceviour (DAL) – $3700 Parise (MIN) – $7000
Stamkos (TBL) – $7900 Cammalleri (NJD) – $4500
Koivu (MIN) – $5000 Burrows (VAN) – $4200
Kucherov (TBL) – $5400

  • It’s hard to pick which line to go from in Chicago, so I will lean Toews if only because of ice time.
  • Brayden Schenn has been moved to the first line for Philadelphia. Playing with Jakub Voracek should only help his value.
  • In general, I would spend on the wing tonight. I don’t mind Stamkos, but am not particularly high on him, and no other center I’m looking at is over $6000.
  • Zidlicky should be a staple of cash games tonight on the point.

Guaranteed Prize Pools/Tournaments

Centre Wing Defense Goalie
Seguin (DAL) – $9200 Benn (DAL) – $6700 Daley (DAL) – $4200 Lehtonen (DAL) – $8300
Sceviour (DAL) – $3700 Ryan (OTT) – $6200 Ceci (OTT) – $2900 Anderson (OTT) – $8100
Zibanejad (OTT) – $3600 Hoffman (OTT) – $3300 Keith (CHI) – $5500
Toews (CHI) – $5700 Hossa (CHI) – $5700 Zidlicky (NJD) – $3500
Zajac (NJD) – $3500 Saad (CHI) – $4800 Pietrangelo (STL) – $5700
Elias (NJD) – $3500 Cammalleri (NJD) – $4500
Lehtera (STL) – $2900 Tarasenko (STL) – $6100
Schwartz (STL) – $5600

  • Dallas and Chicago are both home teams in very good spots tonight. The reason I lean the first line in Chicago over the Richards-Sharp-Kane line is price alone; the Toews line is about 30-percent of total salary cap, while the Richards line is about 44-percent.
  • Ottawa gets to face a likely Claude Giroux-less Flyers tonight. Without Giroux on the ice, the Flyers are pretty much Colorado possession-wise.
  • New Jersey is at home to Buffalo. That’s all I got to say about that.
  • Louis hasn’t been that great possession-wise over the last couple of months, but a reunited Schwartz-Lehtera-Tarasenko line could be in for a good night against a fairly hapless Coyotes team.

Slim’s Pickins (bargain plays)

Jori Lehtera (STL-C, $2900) – Schwartz coming back is a big boost to this line.

Michael Raffl (PHI-W, $2900) – Raffl was put on a line with Laughton and Simmonds, and they should at least be able to avoid Erik Karlsson.

Jonas Brodin (MIN-D, $2600) – If he has a heavy ice time load, Brodin might get close to value through blocked shots alone.

Good luck!
